Across the United states many schools/Hospitals now lay in ruins. Most of these schools were dedicated to caring for the mentally ill or those with physical and mental disabilities. Often referred to as “ Schools for the feeble minded (a term used in the early 1900’s for people with developmental disabilities). These schools became quickly over populated and understaffed. In most cases family members were just dropping off their children to never return again.

What exactly is Urbex you might ask? Urban exploration is the exploration of manmade structures that have been abandoned. Most of these structures lay in ruins either hidden away deep in the woods or right in your neighborhood. Throughout history photographers and thrill seekers have been drawn to these places. sometimes it involves trespassing onto private property or contacting land owners. Weather it be the relation of feeling lost themselves or just curiosity, this hobby isn’t dying anytime soon.
